Sugar Cookies

These are the perfect cookie dough when you want to use cookie cutters. They keep their shape nicely during baking. Plus they taste really nice and sweet, it’s a good all-around cookie.

What do you need?

  • 400 gr (14 oz) flour
  • 150 gr (5,3 oz) white sugar
  • 50 gr (1,7 oz) vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
  • 200 gr (7 oz) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt

How to make it?

Put the white sugar, vanilla sugar and butter in a bowl and mix until creamy (3 minutes). Add the egg and mix until it’s completely mixed into it.

Now you can add the flour and knead it with your hands into a firm dough.

Make a square block of the dough and wrap it in foil. Place in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Preheat your oven to 180 °C or 360°F (160 °C or 320 °F hot air)

Take out the dough out of the refrigerator. When you would roll it right away it will crack . So let it come to temperature for 15 minutes.

Dust your work surface with a little flour and roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.5 – 1 cm. (0,2-0,4 inch) Cut out the cookies and put them on a baking tray that’s covered with baking paper.

From the remaining dough you make a ball and roll this out again. Continue until the dough is finished.

Bake the cookies in the oven for 10 minutes. Let them cool on the baking tray before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Bon Appetit!
