Almond Paste
Almond paste is super easy to make. You only need 3 ingredients and you can make it in less than 5 minutes. But you best make it the day before you need to use it.
Almond paste is different from marzipan. Almond paste is used in sweet breads, pastries. It has a much coarser grain than marzipan, because granulated sugar is used here instead of powdered sugar. It is not so pleasant to eat just like this, but delicious to use in sweet pastries.
What do you need?
- 150 gr (5,3 oz) granulated sugar
- 150 gr (5,3 oz) almond flour
- 1/2 egg
How to make it?
Take a bowl and add the granulated sugar and almond flour in it. Stir this together so that it’s devided among each other.
Now add half an egg to the almond flour. Stir this into the almond flour. Then you continue kneading with your hands.
You should get a nice solid but sticky mass. If it is too dry, add a little more egg.
Make a cube of your almond paste and roll it in plastic foil.
Place in the fridge for 12 hours for the best result.
