Honey Sesame Chicken
I love the Chinese/Asian cuisine, I always have. I also think sweet and sour sauce was one of the first sauces I used to eat at a Chinese restaurant. This dish immediately brings me back to my childhood. A delicious combination between the sweet and the sour and this with simple jasmine rice. Delicious !
What do you need?
- 2 chicken fillets, cut into cubes
- 2 oz or 60 gr cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Oil for frying
- 1 bell pepper, cut in pieces
- 2 spring onions, cut
- 4 oz or 120 ml apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce
- 3 oz or 100 ml of honey
- 2 oz or 60 ml Ketchup
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt
- Black pepper
- extra corn starch
How to make it?
Season the chicken cubes with salt and pepper. Put the cornstarch and the beaten eggs in a separate bowl. First pass the chicken through the cornstarch, then through the egg.
Bake the chicken blocks until they aren’t pink anymore, add the bell pepper pieces and let them bake for 2 minutes.
In the meantime you can prepare the sauce, take a bowl and combine the apple cider vinegar, honey, ketchup, soy sauce and garlic. Stir well.
Add the sauce to the chicken, let simmer for a few minutes. If your sauce remains too running, you can thicken it with some extra cornstarch. Take some saus from your pan and add cornstarch, dissolve by stirring and then add to your sauce.
Finally, add the spring onions and let them warm up for another 1 minute.
Serve with rice.
Bon Appetit!
