Christmas Tree Appetizer
A delicious pizza Christmas tree, I say pizza but it doesn’t actually taste like pizza. But you do use pizza dough.
It has a full spinach and cream cheese flavor. A super tasty appetizer and a nice presentation. You can put the tree in its entirety on the table so that everyone can take their own twist. This way the rest of the tree stays warm longer.
In any case, it was a great success here, even with our daughter who is otherwise not very fond of spinach. Now it was mmmm mommy this is super delicious. She even over eat herself with this one, which she never ever does otherwise.
What do you need?
- 1 roll of pizza dough
- 350 gr (12 oz) frozen spinach
- 300 gr (10,5 oz) cream cheese
- 50 gr (1,7 oz) grated cheese
- 50 gr (1,7 oz) Parmesan
- 50 gr (1,7 oz) mozzarella grated
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- ¼ teaspoon of pepper
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons of Italian herbs
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
How to make it?
Preheat the oven to 200 °C or 390°F (180 °C or 360°F hot air). Take a baking tray and cover it with baking paper.
Roll out the pizza dough and cut a triangle out of it. So that you get a tree shape.

Take the two cut parts and make a triangle again. Place this on the baking tray.
Defrost the frozen spinach and put it in a fine sieve so you can squeeze out the moisture with a spoon.
Take a large bowl and put the drained spinach in it, add the cream cheese and stir it under each other.
Now add the herbs, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and Italian herbs. Stir this well into the spinach. Then add the grated cheese and Parmesan. Stir this into the spinach mixture as well.
Divide this mixture over the piece of pizza dough that you have placed on the baking tray.
Sprinkle mozzarella over the spinach mixture. Then cover this with the other piece of pizza dough.
Now make cuts in the dough from top to bottom, but do not cut the middle. So the cuts should not touch on either side.

You can remove the pieces from the bottom cuts so that you have a trunk. I ust baked these pieces separately, which is already a nice nibble to taste before serving and you don’t throw away anything unnecessary.
Now turn all the strips a few times so that there is a twist in everything. You can also see everything well in the photos.
Spread the melted butter all over and bake the pizza tree in the oven for 20 minutes.
Serve as a snack or with a meal. You can nicely subtract the twists one by one when the tree is served.
Bon Appetit!
