Mozzarella Balls
Fried snacks are often offered with a drink when you have people over, at least that’s the case in Belgium. They are often ready-made products that you can quickly take out of the freezer. And I have to admit they are very tasty and always a hit. But I wanted to make something myself that is just as tasty as those frozen snacks.
Since I have two cheese lover in my house, I chose to make fried mozzarella balls. I thought it would be more work, but in less than 10 minutes they were already simmering in my cooking pot.
They were very delicious, I served them with ketchup, but no one actually touched the sauce. They were just really tasty on her own.
What do you need?
- 150 gr (5 oz)mozzarella balls (1 bag)
- 120 gr (4 oz) flour
- 240 gr (8 oz) breadcrumbs (I used panko)
- 2 eggs
- 60 ml (2oz) of milk
- ¼ teaspoon of pepper
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons Oregano
- Corn oil for frying
How to make it?
Pat the mozzarella balls dry with kitchen paper.
Take 3 bowls, in the first bowl put the flour with salt and pepper. Mix this together.
In the second bowl you put the eggs, beat them and stir the milk into it.
In the last bowl you put the breadcrumbs with the oregano and stir well.
Roll each mozzarella ball first through the flour, then through the egg mixture and finally through the breadcrumbs.
Repeat this one more time and then put it on a plate.
When you have done all the balls, heat the oil in a small cooking pot over medium heat. Make sure your cooking pot is 1/3 full of oil.
Fry the balls in the oil for 5 minutes, stir regularly so they can fry evenly.
Serve with your favorite sauce.
Bon Appetit!
TIP: Do not use your regular fryer, some mozzarella may come out of the balls and this could stick to your fryer.
TIP: Let the oil heat up well before you put the balls in it. This way they are immediately seared and they lose less cheese.
