Turkish Bread “Pizza” With Tuna

Tuna pizza but prepared in a different way, with a Turkish bread as a base instead of pizza dough.

I personally think this is a great combination, I love Turkish bread. You can make this dish with fresh Turkish bread or bake-off bread. I’ve made this with both and you don’t really taste a difference.

What do you need?

  • 1 Turkish bread
  • 160 gr (5,6 oz) tuna (1 can)
  • 2 balls of mozzarella, Cut into pieces
  • 100 gr (3,5 oz) of grated cheese
  • 2 red onions, cut into half rings
  • 20 black olives, halved

For the Sauce

  • 400 gr (14 oz) tomato cubes (1 tin)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
  • 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of pepper

How to make it?

Preheat your oven to 200 °C or 390 °F (180 °C or 360°F hot air). Take two oven trays and cover them with baking paper.

Cut your Turkish bread in half so you have two open breads. Place them on the baking sheets with the cut sides facing up.

Make the sauce, use a blender or a high bowl so you can use your hand blender. Combine all ingredients and mix well.

Drain the tuna and add it to the sauce. Stir the tuna into the sauce so it is spread through the sauce.

Divide the tuna sauce mix over the two bread parts. Then top with the pieces of mozzarella, the red onion and olives.

Sprinkle the grated cheese over it and slide the breads into the oven, bake for 20 minutes until the cheese is nicely browned.

Bon Appetit!
