Penne Al Forno With Meatballs And Mozzarella

A delicious and easy to make pasta. This pasta is also ideal as a family meal. Guaranteed that your kids will love the meatballs in this delicious pasta.

What do you need?

  • 350 gr (12,3 oz) penne
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 ball of mozzarella, cut into pieces.
  • Pepper and salt to taste

For the meatballs

  • 400 gr (14,1 oz) minced meat of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 50 gr (1,7 oz) breadcrumbs

For the sauce

  • 800 gr (28,21 oz) tomato cubes
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of Italian herbs

How to make it?

Preheat the oven to 250 °C or 480 °F grill setting. Get an oven-proof dish an put it aside for later.

Cook the penne as described on the package.

Combine all the ingredients for meatballs and mix with your hands. Roll balls about the size of a golf ball.

Fry the balls in a frying pan with a little oil.

Combine all the sauce ingredients and mix them fine with a hand blender.

When the penne are cooked, add the sauce to the penne and also mix the meatballs into it. Season with salt and pepper.

Transfer everything to an ovenproof dish and divide the mozzarella over the penne.

Place under the grill for 10 minutes or until the mozzarella has melted.
