Scones

Scones are great to serve when you do a high tea or brunch. When I first ate these, I though, this will be another one of those bread recipes that take up a lot of time to make. But no, they are really super-fast to make.

What do you need?

  • 40 gr (1,41 oz) unsalted butter (cold)
  • 30 gr (1,06 oz) white sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 225 gr (7,94 oz) Self-rising flour
  • 110 ml (3,72 oz) of milk

How to make it?

Preheat the oven to 200 °C or 390°F (180 °C or 350°F hot air).

In a large bowl you put the self-rising flour and the butter. Knead the butter into the flour with your fingers.

Add the sugar and salt and mix well.

Finally add the milk, stir this briefly through the flour and then continue kneading by hand.

Cover a baking tray with baking paper.

Sprinkle your work surface with flour and roll out the dough to about 3 cm thick. Cut out circles, I used a ring of 5 cm in diameter.

Then roll it up and knead again. Roll out and cut out again. Do this until there isn’t any dough left.

Place the scones on the baking tray. Brush them with milk and bake them in the oven for 15 minutes.

Let them cool on a cooling rack.

Serve with clotted cream and jam.

Bon Appetit!
