Tuna Cakes

These are great as a starter or even on a tapas plate. You can eat them hot or cold.

So if you like to prepare them in advance not a problem at all. Even when you like to serve them hot, you can warm them up in the oven.

The dipping sauce which is made with Greek yogurt gives it a real fresh summer vibe.

What do you need?

  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh chives, shredded
  • 1 clove of garlic, crushed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon of smoked paprika powder
  • ½ chili pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Dip

  • 150 gr (5 oz) Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How to make it?

Take a large bowl, put the two tins of tuna in it. Crush the tuna with a fork.

Add the chives, garlic, onion and chili pepper. stir this well under the tuna.

Beat the eggs and add them to the tuna.

 Add the smoked paprika powder, as well as salt and pepper. Stir one the last time.

Take a scoop of tuna with your hands and form small balls (the size of a golf ball) of the tuna mix and push them flat with your hand.

Repeat this until all the tuna mix is ​​gone.

Fry the cakes in a frying pan with olive oil. Do not overfill your pan, this way you can easily turn it over.

For the dipping sauce, take a small bowl and add the Greek yogurt, along with the garlic, lemon juice and olive oil. Stir well and season with salt and pepper.

Serve the tuna cakes with dipping sauce.

TIP: If you to have a few cakes that are nog spicy, you can divide the tuna mix into two bowls and add the chili pepper only to one bowl.
