Swedish Meatballs

Deliciously tender meatballs served in a delicious creamy sauce with mustard. This is a delicious winter dish and is also super easy to make.

What do you need?

  • 600 gr (21 oz) minced meat
  • 1 onion, shredded
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 large potatoes, boiled
  • 10 tablespoons of breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of pepper

For the sauce

  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 4 tablespoons of flour
  • 400 ml (14 oz) water, warm
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcester sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of mustard
  • 200 ml (7 oz) cream

How to make it?

Combine all the ingredients for the meatballs in a large bowl. Knead together with your hands. Roll meatballs, the size of a golf ball, off the ground beef.

Fry the meatballs in a large frying pan until tender and browned in oil.

Take the meatballs out of the pan and set aside for later.

Add the 4 tablespoons of butter to the pan and let it melt. Then add the flour and stir it through the butter.

Crumble the stock cube in the warm water and stir. Little by little, pour the stock into the pan and keep stirring. Only add when the water has been absorbed by the flour. Do this until the water runs out.

Heat the pan with stock, stir frequently. Also add the cream, mustard and Worcester sauce. The sauce will thicken after a while.

Season with salt if needed.

Add the meatballs to the sauce and serve.

Bon Appetit!
