Honey Baked Chicory
I love chicory and I love to eat fried chicory with a nice piece of steak.
To sweeten the chicory I prefer honey to sugar because sugar tends to burn faster and instead of a nice sweet taste you get a burnt taste in your chicory.
What do you need?
- 3 chicory stumps or as many as you need
- 3 tablespoons of honey
- Pinch of salt
How to make it?
Cut out the heart at the bottom of the chicory stem, this is the bitter part of the chicory.
Then cut the chicory in half. Heat a frying pan with a little oil.
Place the chicory, flat side down. Sprinkle a little salt on the top.
Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes. Do not let it burn. Put a lid on your pan to cook them faster.
Turn the chicory over and sprinkle salt on the flat side. Also half a tablespoon of honey on each piece.
Bake on this side for another 10 minutes. Then turn over again and let it bake briefly.
Pierce the chicory to feel if it’s fully cooked. Otherwise, bake a little longer.
Bon Appetit!
